Jiang Wanqing took devoted care of her mother-in-law for twelve years and waited faithfully for her relocated husband, Pei Lin, for seven years. Upon learning that his assignment was extended by another seven years, she traveled a great distance to find him, only to discover that he had long been a live-in son-in-law in another family, with both a son and daughter, happily playing the submissive husband. He spent money on his mistress like water, yet lied to Jiang Wanqing that his salary was meager and completely neglected his own mother. In reality, all his 'helpless circumstances' were lies, and all his 'deep affection and devotion' was merely an act. When the truth came to light, Jiang Wanqing could bear it no longer. She gathered evidence, personally sent the treacherous pair to prison, and started a new life of her own.
