Su Nianhe, the daughter of a high-ranking minister, leaves the capital overnight and returns to Qingxi Village with her young brother Su Nian'an, settling into a drafty woodshed. From setting up a stall selling cloth and opening the 'Nianhe Shop', to starting literacy classes, building a new home, and getting married, she and the destitute scholar Lu Shian support each other through the simple warmth of daily life. There is no world-shaking counterattack of power—only the steadfast work of every meal, every stitch, and every thread. A young woman who left the capital, a scholar who failed the imperial exams, a group of village neighbors, and a humble shop turn ordinary days into a life of warmth and beauty.
