By day, he is the capital's number one wastrel, fighting cocks and dogs; by night, he is an unsheathed blade, enduring and hiding his edge. His father dies in battle, his fiancée throws away the betrothal letter to break off the engagement, and the whole capital curses him as good-for-nothing. Nobody knows that his father left behind over three hundred letters, every single one being a military strategy. Suddenly, the border reports an emergency, and the wastrel puts on armor. He defends the city, repels the enemy, breaks formations, and captures the king, step by step becoming the new Great Wall of the northern frontier. Returning to the capital in glory, the rejecting fiancée kneels begging for reconciliation, but he calmly pushes the betrothal letter back. The emperor bestows a marriage, and secret court struggles ignite once more. His father is not dead, and corrupt officials are not eradicated. He puts on his armor and sets out on expedition once again.
