Modern-day doctor Chen Qingshan travels back to 1988 and becomes the good-for-nothing outcast of Chen Family Village, despised by his entire family. The moment he opens his eyes, he finds himself lying on a widow's kang after being deliberately set up, with the whole village catching them in the act. His own father forces him to take the blame, marry the widow, and give up his room to his younger brother. Just when he reaches his breaking point, he discovers that he can hear the voices of all things. Using this extraordinary ability, he saves the widow from gas poisoning and identifies a patient suffering a heart attack. From a worthless man thrown out of his own home, he rises to become the village's beloved 'Doctor Chen.'
