Laid off and down to their last 3,120 yuan, Xu Nian and Zhao Xiaoman find themselves stranded with sold-out tickets and flights they can't afford. The two Sichuan girls decide to take the long way home on slow green trains—transferring across eleven routes over seven days and nights from Beijing to Chengdu. Along the way, they lose money and luggage, face misunderstandings, but also end up saving lives, healing souls, and finding unexpected kindness. When an entire train carriage stands up to testify against two human traffickers, they finally realize that dignity doesn't require wealth, and kindness is never a losing bargain. On New Year's Eve, as two steaming bowls of stir-fried cured pork with garlic sprouts are served, their mothers welcome them home with the exact same words: "All that matters is you're back."
