She goes back to the Qin family to settle the score, then volunteers to relocate to the countryside, where she establishes herself in Yangjia Village with a small room and a simple cooking stove. In the cowshed, she saves Zhao Hongying, who is critically ill, and helps hide her seven-year-old scientific research files. On the eve of a commune competition, someone splashes paint over her work.
