In Xiangyang Village on the Loess Plateau, Lin Xiaoyan suppresses her disappointment after failing the college entrance exam, determined to forge a path to prosperity in the yellow soil. Braving doubts from the entire village, she takes the lead in building off-season vegetable greenhouses, guides the villagers to plant Red Fuji apples, and prepares a fruit processing plant. On her entrepreneurial path, she encounters severe crises like natural disasters and broken capital chains, but also gains the protection and support of veteran Chen Jianjun. Ultimately, Lin Xiaoyan touches everyone with her practical hard work, leads Xiangyang Village to completely break free from poverty, wins high votes to become the village party secretary, and writes a praise song of self-reliance and village revitalisation for northern rural women in the 1980s.
