Eighteen-year-old Su Nianchu, living under someone else's roof in a blended family without a formal education or residency status, handles all the household chores every day only to be picked on and mistreated by her step-sister. Refusing to remain trapped in trivial friction and be pushed around, she grits her teeth to break out of her toxic background. Seizing an opportunity, she joins a machinery plant to manage household affairs for the upright and aloof Vice Factory Director Gu. Diligent, sensible, intelligent, and capable, she excels at cooking and housekeeping while quietly cultivating the courtyard and studying for exams on her own. Undaunted by cold glares and prejudice, and free of nostalgia for false warmth, this ordinary countryside girl builds herself up step by step, charting an inspiring path of self-reliance with hard work and resilience!
