Spring Tide, Crossing at Night: Fourth Master, Please Take the Bait
The Wen family of Jiangnan is brought to ruin, and Wen Yizhen, its orphaned daughter, narrowly escapes death. Assuming the alias Nanzhi, she breaks free from her prison in Yangzhou and seeks refuge at the Marquis of Dingyuan's residence. Living under another family's roof, she becomes entangled in the dangerous intrigues of the marquis's household. Her uncle by marriage covets her, her aunt schemes against her, and the women of the household close in on her at every turn. To protect herself, she uses her own body as bait and strikes a six-month transactional contract with Fourth Master Fu Jichuan, a cold-faced man wielding immense power at court. They probe and provoke each other, maneuvering in a game of wits, unable to break free from the tangle of desire and suspicion. While navigating complicated entanglements involving the heir apparent and scions of noble families, she plots her moves step by step.
