During a severe famine in the Republic of China era, old hunter Sun Tiezhu went snake hunting and caught a yellow python. After returning home, Sun Tiezhu insisted on killing the snake. His wife, Grandma Sun, could not stop him, and his grandson Sun Hao also begged his grandfather to spare it. But Sun Tiezhu had made up his mind and slaughtered the yellow python. Seeing the snake dead, Grandma Sun blamed Sun Tiezhu for killing a snake from Snake King Cave, warning that retribution would fall upon the whole family. Sun Tiezhu dismissed it as feudal superstition, declaring he was not afraid. Unexpectedly, in the dead of night, a refugee woman knocked on the door. Feeling pity for her, Sun Tiezhu's family took her in, unraveling a series of bizarre and eerie events. In the end, Sun Tiezhu woke up, realizing it had all been a dream.
