Later, through Cheng Huangye pointing it out, he learned it was caused by secretly keeping the silver taels of a victimized old man thirty years ago and owing a nether debt. Wang Laohan headed to Wangsi City to apologize; the old man had long since felt grateful for his lifesaving grace, wiping away old grudges with a smile. The nether debt paid off, the paper money smoothly arrived in his account, and he distributed silver to relieve destitute old ghosts, finally attaining blessed land to be reincarnated due to a lifetime of accumulating virtue, verifying the heavenly principle that good and evil are rewarded and debts must be repaid.
