Xiao Chengxi, a modern-day overworked employee, dies suddenly from exhaustion and transmigrates into the body of a puppet emperor of the Great Sheng dynasty, controlled by the Empress Dowager and the great general Pei Zhenyue. His Crown Princess, Shen Zhiwei, is also about to be forcibly taken by Prince An. He activates an Emperor Growth System and obtains Xiang Yu in his first draw, then forcefully storms Prince An's residence to reclaim Shen Zhiwei. When a devastating flood strikes Hedong, Xiao Chengxi personally visits the disaster zone, using system supplies and high-yield crops to pacify a million displaced people. He subsequently draws Jia Xu, fifty thousand cavalrymen, the Imperial Guards, and other powerful allies. At court, he foils the Empress Dowager's and Pei Zhenyue's numerous schemes, intimidates the steppe delegation, and exposes a host of traitors. Pei Zhenyue's ambush and the Empress Dowager's attempt to poison him and seize the throne are both seen through in advance by Xiao Chengxi, who completely crushes the rebellion and strips the Empress Dowager of her title.
