The day Lin Xiaoman, a mail carrier in Qingxi Town, slapped her resignation letter onto the desk, an unstamped letter dropped out of the dead-letter box. Signed by 'Tomorrow,' it expressed gratitude for a good deed done by 'the Lin Xiaoman of yesterday.' Following the letters' leads, she saved a drowning child, redirected an elderly woman about to board the wrong bus, and convinced Shitou to return to school. From then on, every morning greeted her with a note saying: 'Thank you for your kindness yesterday.' Yet this box foretold no disasters and bestowed no wealth—it opened only for acts of goodwill. When a developer insisted on tearing down the old post office, and when flash floods surged toward the town on a stormy night, Lin Xiaoman finally understood her late father's words: 'Where the letter arrives, the heart arrives.'
