In the early 1980s, Shen Yun, the widow of a model worker, was living on a shoestring when she crossed paths with Lu Yan, a young man skilled at precision welding. Scrap capacitors and worn-out transistors that seemed worthless to others were dismantled, cleaned, and refurbished by their hands into durable, practical radios. Lu Yan tackled technical difficulties while Shen Yun thoughtfully connected with neighborhood residents and handled management. Starting by piecing together their very first radio, they gradually earned official pilot certification from the subdistrict. Their affordable, community-friendly devices brought warmth to neighbors and drew two struggling souls closer together. What was dug up from the junkyard was not just a livelihood, but a thriving, prosperous future forged side by side.
