Shen Yuan, the only daughter of the Marquis of Zhenbei, has a fierce temper, and no man in the capital dares to marry her. To carry on the family bloodline, she kidnaps the aloof Grand Preceptor Gu Yunshen back to her manor to be her husband, solely wanting him to father her children. After marriage, feelings gradually blossom between them. Shen Yuan becomes pregnant with twins, but faces schemes and harm from her cousin and the Prime Minister. Gu Yunshen secretly protects her at every turn, while his true identity remains a mystery. It is not until the day Shen Yuan gives birth, when hidden imperial guards across the courtyard fall to their knees to greet His Majesty, that she realizes the husband she abducted is actually the reigning Emperor who had been lying low in court to purge corrupt ministers. With misunderstandings resolved, she enters the imperial palace with their children by his side, crowned as the Empress.
