Chen Zhixia takes over the old bookstore left behind by her grandfather, determined to protect this little shop filled with secondhand books. Zhou Mingyuan, the head of a competing bookstore chain who wants to take over the property, spreads rumors claiming that the old books are dilapidated and pose safety hazards in order to force her to shut down. Instead of picking an impulsive fight, Chen Zhixia organizes purchase records and maintenance logs, and invites neighborhood residents to read and share stories hidden within the old pages. Witnessing firsthand how clean and tidy the store is, the community watches the rumors gradually dissolve. She even hosts free reading sessions in the shop, rekindling people's love for paper books. With Zhou Mingyuan's scheme foiled, Chen Zhixia preserves her grandfather's bookstore, allowing the fragrance of books to linger along the old street.
