Boxer Chen Feng was forced by villains who held his wife hostage to throw a match, only to lose his beloved despite enduring the brutal fight. Reborn in Republican-era Shanghai, he encounters Qin Jiangyue, who looks strikingly like his late wife and is married to Boss Du, leader of the Qingyun Gang. After Boss Du's death, Chen Feng does everything in his power to help Qin Jiangyue maintain her hold over the Bund. Vowing to protect her and make amends for his past-life regrets, he eventually leaves Shanghai hand-in-hand with Qin Jiangyue to live peacefully in seclusion.
