After a car accident, Zhao Ying and Qian Jia swap souls just as Zhao Ying discovers she is pregnant. Trapped in his wife's body, Qian Jia personally endures severe morning sickness, torment from his mother Sun Ai's folk remedies, workplace discrimination against pregnant women, and all the household chores—finally understanding Zhao Ying's grievances throughout their three years of a widowed-style marriage. As tensions escalate, their relentless fights culminate in a miscarriage. After their divorce, Qian Jia attempts to reconcile but is rejected; out of spite, he spreads defamatory rumors to ruin Zhao Ying. She gathers evidence, calls the police, and forces him into a compensated settlement. A year later, Zhao Ying thrives as a promoted design director, while Qian Jia, weighed down by a criminal record for defamation, is repeatedly rejected in the job market and left struggling in menial odd jobs.
