With her country fallen and her family destroyed, Great Yan princess Lin Wantang was reduced to a prisoner of war, only to be rescued from the swords of chaotic soldiers by Prince Pei Heng. She originally thought she was forced into a political marriage, little knowing that Pei Heng had fallen in love with her at first sight long ago, plotting step by step solely to keep her by his side. Amidst the vortex of court intrigue, Lin Wantang shed her fragility, fought back in the inner courtyard, took hold of the military tally, and gathered her old subordinates; Pei Heng poured out all his power and influence to protect her safety. Together, the two pacified the realm, and unwilling to let her settle for a mere empress's seat, he resolved to sit side by side with her over ten thousand miles of rivers and mountains.
