Modern special agent Zhou Xuan dies after being betrayed by his teammates and transmigrates to the Great Zhou Dynasty, becoming a puppet eunuch abducted from a neighboring state by Empress Dowager Qin Youlan to impersonate the deceased emperor. In court, Prime Minister Lin Tianzhong conspires with Minister of War Wang Yu to force a palace showdown, alleging his identity is fraudulent. Zhou Xuan publicly executes a false witness to assert his authority over the court, and uses his recent assassination attempt to strip the prime minister's nephew, Lin Yue, of his post as Right Commander of the Imperial Guard. Lin Tianzhong then proposes sending his own daughter, Lin Ruoxi, to bed the emperor to verify his physical manhood, a challenge Zhou Xuan gladly accepts and turns to his advantage. The next morning, he directly confers upon Lin Ruoxi the title of Imperial Noble Consort, defusing the crisis with an iron fist. Awestruck by the imposter's genuine imperial majesty, the Empress Dowager watches as the fierce battles of the imperial harem and court politics have only just begun.
