Pushed off a balcony by her adoptive sister Qin Yue over a mystery surrounding her true origins, Lin You makes a pact with Qingluan, the spirit of the ancient artifact Nether Record, as she nears death. In exchange for new life and immense power, Lin You must guide aggrieved souls to the afterlife—at the cost of gradually losing her five senses until she ceases to be human. Reborn, Lin You walks between the realms of the living and the dead as the ruler of the Netherworld, slaying her foes and bringing justice to the unjustly slain. Even as losing her senses tortures her, Lin You's power only grows. In truth, the spirit Qingluan who has guarded her all along is a fallen god stripped of his divinity and banished into the abyss just to protect her. Together, Lin You and Qingluan shatter the heavens to challenge the hypocritical Heavenly Dao.
