Lu Chenzhou, a disciple of the Xuanxiao Sect, is framed by the master who raised him for thirteen years and the sect's Holy Son. His nine-life destiny is extracted, and he is cast into the Immortal Burial Abyss. On the brink of death, he awakens the Heavenly Debt Ledger, becoming an unregistered ghost absent from the Book of Life and Death, reborn with a karmic debt-collection system. Starting by settling old scores with his sect, he claims the legacy of the Sword Immortal of the Buried Sea, wins over the sect's guardian divine beast, and joins forces with Jiang Zhaoxue of Tianjian Mountain. Step by step, he exposes the shocking conspiracy of immortal sects siphoning mortal lifespans to sustain the immortal realm. In the end, he marches upon the Nine Heavens, refuses to be a pawn of Heavenly Dao's apocalypse, shatters the Immortal Emperor's divine throne, and restores stolen lifespans to all living beings, freeing mankind from ever bowing to immortals again.
