A black serpent that has cultivated for 2,000 years is on the verge of transforming into a dragon, but fails at the final step. Deep in the mountains, the serpent has long protected the local villagers, who have worshipped it as a deity for generations. As Shi Laosan brings his granddaughter Jingjing to pay their respects, he reveals that his eldest grandson's wife dreamed a year ago of a mighty black dragon coiled around the main peak of Mount Wu and gazing down at her, after which she became pregnant. The serpent, amused by the absurd misunderstanding, decides to reveal its divine power.
