Amid a drought, Kaoshan Village cannot hand over three thousand jin of immortal grain, and Xu Guitian can only watch as his adoptive father’s lifespan is taken away. Clutching the broken-handled hoe his father left behind, he suddenly sees the weakest “roots” of all things. With one swing he breaks a flying sword, and in three days he grows life-saving grain. He fights his way to the Qinglan Sect and exposes the truth behind the lifespan tax—the so-called immortal sects have been harvesting mortals like crops. From battles in spirit fields to bounties from the Nine Sects, from the Immortal-Slaying Platform to the Nine Heavens, Xu Guitian leads a whole village of common folk and uses his hoe to plow the man-eating immortal path into terraced fields. This season, it is time for those in heaven to come down and till the earth.
