Lin Yan, a 28-year-old star project director from group headquarters, conceals her true identity to investigate internal issues within a branch office. Keeping a low profile, she joins the branch's industrial park upgrade project team as a rotating intern. Arrogant and opportunistic project supervisor Zhang Lei assumes she is just an ordinary newcomer with no background, dumping tedious chores and high-risk liaison tasks on her. In meetings, he publicly berates Lin Yan and pins raw data errors squarely on the intern. Her colleagues witness everything, yet dare not speak up.
