Bai Chang'an, an amnesiac fire keeper clutching a tin lunchbox, trudges through a dreamscape woven of sugar-crumb illusions and mortal warmth. Along his journey, he faces four generals barring his way: the bronze mechanisms of the female warden, the soul-summoning memory extraction of the Baiyi mage, the Nuo opera curtain of the bronze-hammer brute, and the bitter sea of mind-swords from the Baiyi swordsman. Striking down countless illusions with his raw street brawling, he anchors his memories with a warm box of food to dissolve old enmities. Finally reaching the tower's peak, he faces the white-faced Ji Zao in a decisive battle, reclaiming his memories amid a river of boundless light as a golden dragon transforms into a young girl to awaken his daughter, Jiaojiao. Where the dream breaks, an eighty-year-old father wakes from his hospital bed; father and daughter recognize each other, the lunchbox is still warm, and the warmth of life passes down through generations.
