In a traditional village, Shen Yan awakens to find Liu Erye threatening to cripple his father unless the Shen family hands over its ancestral forging technique to settle a debt of fifty taels of silver. Determined to protect his father's hands and preserve the family's craft, Shen Yan challenges the powerful Liu family to a seven-day wager: he will forge a plow that is twice as efficient as theirs. If he wins, the debt will be canceled and the Liu family must leave. If he loses, the ancestral technique and his father's hands will belong to Liu Erye.
