Gu Xiao, an illustrious fighter ace and captain, steps away from his glory to become an ordinary ground crew member. However, during his work, he keenly detects a fatal hidden flaw in the plane piloted by his ex-girlfriend, Li Fei. When he tries to stop the flight, Li Fei mocks him, assuming he is merely trying to win her back. High in the sky, a crisis erupts and the plane spirals near total loss of control. At the critical moment, Gu Xiao calmly guides co-pilot Zhao Mengtian through a breathtaking remote rescue, ultimately guiding the aircraft to a safe landing. Yet afterward, Li Fei falsely accuses Gu Xiao of operating against regulations, even bringing in the police. In the end, the hero's name is cleared and the truth comes to light.
