While fleeing an arranged marriage, Qin Duoyu is chased by human traffickers and tumbles over a wall into Gu Zhenlin's courtyard. She escapes with her life, but the 300 yuan bride price collected by Wang Cuixia has yet to be returned. She goes back to the Qin family to settle the score, then volunteers to relocate to the countryside, where she establishes herself in Yangjia Village with a small room and a simple cooking stove. In the cowshed, she saves Zhao Hongying, who is critically ill, and helps hide her seven-year-old scientific research files. On the eve of a commune competition, someone splashes paint over her work. She paints a white wall and recreates it, winning the coveted position. Gu Zhenlin enters the village under the identity of Gu Lin, gradually becoming part of her daily life after first borrowing her stove.
