The Marchioness gave birth to twin daughters. Due to the rumor that twin births bring dark omens, she kept the eldest legitimate daughter Su Miaojin and attempted to kill the second daughter. However, the second daughter, Liu Ningxiang, was saved by Nanny Ji and entrusted to Liu Fang to raise. Eighteen years later, Su Miaojin became infertile after an abortion damaged her constitution before marriage. The Marchioness forced Liu Ningxiang to take her place in the arranged marriage. Cruel by nature, Su Miaojin mistreated Liu Ningxiang. After her adoptive father was murdered by Su Miaojin, Liu Ningxiang swore revenge. Biding her time with humble obedience until she became pregnant, she ultimately took Su Miaojin's place, while Su Miaojin was silenced by her own mother.
