Lao Zhao, owner of a grain and oil shop, lost his calico cat Mimi when she was a kitten. When she finally returns, the household has already adopted Duoduo, a pampered Devon Rex. Duoduo excels at playing victim and driving wedges between others to monopolize affection, repeatedly framing Mimi; even Maine Coon Banni and other chuunibyou pets are fooled by her. Mimi scorns fighting for favor and focuses on honing her mousing skills, teaming up with companions like Shandian and Taishan to form a rat extermination squad. When a massive rat plague strikes the town, Duoduo secretly lures rats to harm Mimi, plotting to steal the credit. In the end, Mimi fights fiercely to slay the rat king, and surveillance footage exposes all of Duoduo's schemes. Lao Zhao's store falls into total ruin because of Duoduo, leaving the stray Duoduo to suffer on the streets, while Mimi earns the respect of grain merchants through true capability and gains her very own cattery.
