Saved by veterinarian Zhang Qingmin, Yajuan defies her father's objections to marry into Zhaojiawan. After marriage, she suffers harsh mistreatment: a spiteful mother-in-law, a troublemaking sister-in-law, and a husband who passively gives in. Quietly, she records every argument and insult as evidence. When her sister-in-law smashes the sewing machine given by her father, the in-laws show no remorse, driving Yajuan to return to her maiden home in fury. With the help of rural reporter Tian Xiao, she organizes the evidence, while her husband finally wakes up and demands a separate household. At a family mediation meeting, Yajuan plays the recordings in public, forcing the mother-in-law and sister-in-law to confront their wrongs. Reconciling with her in-laws, Yajuan gives birth to a son, runs a veterinary clinic independently with her husband, and actively learns to better herself—finally understanding that only when a woman stands on her own feet can she be treated with tenderness.
