Lin Chen, a discarded son with shattered spiritual roots, suffered endless humiliation from his peers in the Qingyun Sect. On the verge of death, he awakened the Xianxia system, only to discover that the system was actually a body-seizing trap laid by the Ancestor ten thousand years ago. He befriends the disguised Su Yao and discovers that Sect Master Qingyunzi has long been parasitized by the Ancestor's lingering soul, making him the chosen physical vessel. Lin Chen hunts beasts in the Soul-Broken Valley to grow stronger, breaks into the forbidden land altar, fights the parasitic conspiracy, undergoes a soul-death battle, devours the Ancestor's soul core, publicly strips the lingering soul from Qingyunzi's body, and shatters the internal seizing plot of the sect. Yet, the Ancestor's true body far away in the Immortal Realm still eyes him covetously.
