Qin Chumo, the commander of the Imperial Shadow Guards, is dispatched by the Third Prince, Li Jing'an, to return to her hometown to find her family and investigate the illicit weapons manufacturing case in Pingle County. Ambushed by assassins along the way, she escapes using her formidable martial arts skills. Upon reuniting with her family in Shipuo Village, her professional shadow guard habits leave her kin bewildered. Local tyrant Wang Hu, instructed by the county magistrate, tries to seize the Qin family's iron-rich farmland, but Qin Chumo severely beats him. Seizing the opportunity, the magistrate leads men to arrest her; noticing the unique markings on the bailiffs' weapons match the illicit military weapons case, Chumo goes along with the arrest to enter the yamen.
