The Taoist Descends the Mountain
Xia Ren, the 88th-generation successor of Maoshan, is practically the Taoist world's ultimate troublemaker. During his heavenly tribulation, he uses his senior fellow disciple as a shield against the lightning. He gets scolded by the sect leader for wearing a yellow robe, and eventually his long-suffering senior brother kicks him down the mountain. Determined to establish his own sect and make a name for himself, he sets up a fortune-telling stall at the marketplace, only to be swindled by Zhang Ergou, a habitual con artist who demands compensation. Unexpectedly, Xia Ren casually predicts that Zhang Ergou will lose his money and his son, a prophecy that comes true when constables expose the man's scams and reveal Xia Ren's extraordinary supernatural abilities. Even more bizarrely, the county magistrate, Xia Xiaobao, recognizes him as his long-lost son of eleven years solely because they have matching panda-like faces and he wears a jade pendant identical to the family heirloom. A hilarious family reunion ensues, and Xia Ren reluctantly accepts his newfound father.
