Young Zhuzi is cruelly mistreated by his cold-hearted elder brother and sister-in-law. After his father's death, he follows his last wish and lets the black ox pull the coffin south, burying him where the rope breaks. Under the bluestone where the rope snaps lie treasure and a stone toad. His greedy brother and sister-in-law seize the treasure and try to harm him again and again, but Zhuzi escapes danger time after time with the help of the spiritually-aware stone toad and the human-like old ox. He keeps his kind heart, saves others and earns great opportunities, rising up to build a career and marry. In the end the villains repent, and Zhuzi saves the world with kindness, proving that good is rewarded.
