The Wedding Carriage, Carrying Back a House Full of Returnless Souls
The wedding robes have not yet been untied, and the prison gates are already locked. Shen Yanci watched as his grandfather stuffed the last pill into his palm, while his father and brothers-in-law silently surrounded him, forming a wall with their bodies. When his third brother-in-law entrusted An'er to the jailer, he kissed the child on the forehead. His grandfather walked along the wall toward the stone pillar, looked back at him, and said he would wait for him ahead. His father held him, his hands shaking so much he could barely clasp his collar, yet he never let go. That night, the men of the Shen family left the possibility of life to him, and left the backbone of the Shen family to themselves.
