The Whole Village Was Deaf to Reason, Until the Flood Came (50 episodes)

College graduate Li Yuan returns to his hometown and tries to stop Zhaojia Village from blasting mountains and quarrying rocks, predicting heavy rains will trigger mudslides. Despite presenting an official ban, he faces unanimous resistance from the villagers. Anticipating the catastrophe, he helps the neighboring Wangjia Village dig a flood-relief canal in advance. As predicted, torrential mountain torrents and mudslides strike. Li Yuan risks his life to rescue the trapped village chief and his son, Zhao Shitou. Later, Zhao's family faces massive fines for illegal mining breaches. Consumed by jealousy, Zhao Shitou leads a mob to extort Li Yuan's million-dollar reward and spread malicious rumors. Li Yuan strikes back with ironclad evidence, revealing the compensation agreement signed voluntarily by the villagers, and thwarts Zhao Shitou's plot to blow up the dyke to frame him. In the end, Li Yuan forgives the villagers, invests his entire reward into local flood-control infrastructure, and dedicates himself to grassroots rural revitalisation.
