After suffering a high fever, He Yuan, a temporary stable worker, gains the ability to understand animal speech. When the champion racehorse Taxue is misdiagnosed with cardiopulmonary failure by chief veterinarian Tang Xueru and slated for euthanasia, He Yuan understands the horse's plea, extracts a sharp stone lodged in its hoof to save its life, and is promptly hired with a high salary as an animal health consultant. Relying on his unique gift, he cures strange illnesses in cats, dogs, and parrots without a single misdiagnosis. Envious of his success, Tang Xueru repeatedly sets traps to suppress him, but He Yuan easily foils them all. He Yuan goes on to solve a water pollution crisis at a ranch in Yunnan and orchestrates a video reunion between the giant panda Tuantuan and its mate, gradually realizing that his extraordinary gift is a precious bridge connecting humans and animals.
