Among the fictional archipelagos, a Wind Heart Tower maintains the wind direction for all the islands; once it stops turning, the evening mist tide will seal off all roads home. A little girl finds a wind seed that fell from the top of the tower and immediately decides to return it. Along the way, instead of just rushing forward, she helps the elderly woman guarding the windmill yard stabilize a loose windmill blade, rescues a little feathered beast trapped in a rock crevice, and accompanies the old ferryman in untangling a deadlocked cable. Every helping hand brings her one step closer to the top of the tower.
