Su Yan is a red fox who just wants to retire. He opened an inn on the wreckage of a Colossus, saving up to buy a courtyard and grow grapes once he has three hundred taels. Until one day, an undercover agent from the Baichen Kingdom barges into his inn carrying a fragment of the Imperial Seal, and wolf cavalry from the Heifeng Kingdom pursues him. Forced to flee with the fragment, he picks up an obstinate debtor white deer, a greedy sharp-tongued green snake, a lost white tiger bruiser, and a messenger spy whose sole talent is scamming him. Harboring their own hidden motives and mutual disdain, the five tumble through a series of absurd adventures. Yet slowly, he discovers he is not merely an innkeeper—he is the descendant of the "sinner" who shattered the Imperial Seal, and the very one the seal has been seeking all along.
