They Left Me Out of the Team-Building Trip, So I Became the Director at Their Competitor
I was the company's only founding employee, having shared a basement with my female boss and survived on instant noodles for three years. When the entire company went to Sanya for a team-building trip, she alone left me behind to work overtime and revise a presentation for an intern. I found the list in the trash: my name had been crossed out in red, with the words "Such a Killjoy" written beside it. I didn't lose my temper. I calmly packed up five years' worth of account books and called our competitor. While my boss raised a glass by the sea to celebrate her new favorite's promotion, the "final version" of the proposal sent to the client contained a line no one could have anticipated. She had no idea that this trip would be the last time she could ever raise a champagne glass.
