Think My Crummy Pomelos Have No Vision? One Frost and Your Whole Village Loses Its Entire Harvest
Lu Chen, a graduate in agricultural science, settles in the countryside and promotes hardy, high-quality green-skinned ugly pomelos, helping farmers in Qingshi Village steadily increase their incomes. Later, Chen Kai, a self-proclaimed overseas-educated elite, arrives in the village and aggressively promotes expensive imported citrus varieties, enticing villagers with promises of overnight riches. Taken in by his sweet talk, the villagers ignore Lu Chen's scientific warnings, insist on replacing their fruit trees, and unilaterally terminate their partnership with him. After they finish grafting the new varieties onto their trees, an exceptionally severe late-spring frost strikes. The delicate imported varieties freeze to death, while the old trees, having been cut back, succumb completely to disease. The entire orchard is destroyed.
