This Time I Live for Myself
Gu Nan stayed at home to care for her mother Li Chunhua, who had injured her waist, for ten years, enduring daily belittlement. In Li Chunhua's heart, only her eldest and third daughters, who had put down roots in big cities, were capable. After an argument, Gu Nan resolved to head to the provincial capital to make her way, but her mother forced her to marry a violent, twice-married man to ward off bad luck, with the bride price intended to buy a house for the eldest daughter. Completely heartbroken, Gu Nan walked out, started a street stall selling steamed buns in the provincial capital, and unexpectedly became a hit and opened a shop, at which point Li Chunhua broke her leg once again.
