Villager Ye Fan was crippled after shielding his nephew from an oncoming car. His father died after being tormented by his brother Ye Ming and sister-in-law Sun Yuhong, who then seized the family estate and forced all debts onto Ye Fan at the funeral. Cutting his palm on a rusty shovel, Ye Fan inadvertently awakened the Dragon-Seeking Shovel and its spirit Long Ji, gaining divine powers to locate treasures and heal himself, completely mending his crippled leg. He then excavated rare treasures, amassed wealth, bought back the ancestral house for a hundred thousand, uncovered the truth of his father's death from a will, and avenged him. Rising to fame in the antiques and appraisal circle, he befriended Su Qingxue, Lin Wan'er, and Shen Yao, salvaged a Southern Song shipwreck, and crushed the plots of Japan's Chizuru Group. Learning that the Yin Shovel is sealed in the Kunlun Ruins, Ye Fan embarks on a quest as deadly enemies hunt him down, bringing season one to a close.
