Thirty-Eight Years: Awakening from an Absurd Dream
A 65-year-old elderly man, due to a misdiagnosis, mistakenly believes he is suffering from a serious illness. After confessing his past mistakes to his family, he chooses to leave with nothing. Experiencing the vicissitudes of life, he sees through the utilitarian intentions of others, feels deeply remorseful in his heart, and is single-mindedly determined to make it up to his wife. During this period, he successively deals with a series of difficult problems such as the ownership of family heirloom items, property preservation, false debts, and a forged will. Stepping forward at a ceremony to protect his wife, who gets frightened and falls slightly ill, he attends to her with meticulous care day and night. Under the long companionship, the wife gradually lets go of her knot in the heart, the two resolve their estrangement, and amidst the understanding and blessings of relatives and friends, they accompany each other to peacefully spend their remaining years.

Un uomo anziano di 65 anni, a causa di una errata diagnosi, crede erroneamente di soffrire di una grave malattia. Dopo aver confessato i suoi errori del passato alla famiglia, sceglie di andarsene senza nulla. Sperimentando le vicissitudini della vita, vede chiaramente le intenzioni utilitaristiche degli altrui, prova un profondo rimorso nel cuore ed è fermamente deciso a farsi perdonare dalla moglie. Durante questo periodo, affronta successivamente una serie di difficili problemi come la proprietà degli oggetti di famiglia, la conservazione immobiliare, falsi debiti e un testamento falsificato. Durante una cerimonia, si fa avanti per proteggere la moglie; la moglie si spaventa e si sente male, ed egli si prende cura di lei con estrema dedizione giorno e notte. Sotto la lunga compagnia, la moglie si libera gradualmente del nodo al cuore, i due superano le distanze e, nella comprensione e nella benedizione di parenti e amici, si accompagnano per trascorrere serenamente gli anni a venire.
