Three Days of Apples, Tearing Open a Twelve-Year Shop
For twelve years, Zhou Zheng's father-in-law has run a breakfast shop rent-free in a storefront owned by Zhou Zheng. When Zhou Zheng's father comes into the city for a follow-up medical check, he only wants to borrow the space during the lull after breakfast to sell apples for three days. But his wife blocks him at the door with the words, “Family is family, business is business.” Zhou Zheng accepts this rule on the spot, making everyone understand for the first time that what they enjoyed over the past twelve years was never something they were automatically entitled to, but a favor he had never bothered to count.
