Lin Xiaolan has worked for years in a print and binding shop on Ningcheng's old street, always viewing herself as just an ordinary clerk. At a legal industry conference, she is mistaken for event staff, but lawyer Gu Yanzhou publicly calls out her name and produces an old booklet kept for nine years. Only then does Lin Xiaolan learn that Gu Yanzhou has known her since he first started his career nine years ago. She doesn't treat this old acquaintance as compensation, nor does she let career differences turn into dependency. When Uncle He prepares to retire, she carefully calculates rent, equipment, and customer base, independently negotiates a lease renewal with the landlord, and takes over the little shop.
