While jumping into a lake to retrieve her phone, Su Ningxue unexpectedly travels back in time and lands right in the middle of an ancient rain-praying ceremony, where the Imperial Preceptor mistakes her for the chosen divine maiden. To save her own life, Su Ningxue uses her modern knowledge to help the Emperor solve the people's water crisis, and as they spend time together, they fall in love. However, a powerful general wishes to claim her for himself and conspires with the Empress Dowager, who despises Su Ningxue. Their plan is to give her a pill that simulates death so they can smuggle her out of the palace, but the Empress Dowager secretly swaps it for real poison. The feigned death becomes real, sending Su Ningxue back to the modern era. The Emperor, refusing to let go of his love, travels to the modern world in pursuit of her. Yet Su Ningxue has completely forgotten everything about the ancient times, setting the stage for a cross-temporal love story that begins anew after marriage.
