A Spoonful of Beef Sauce, the Price of Two Yuan
Chen Chuan has eaten at Zhao Guifang's beef noodle shop for seven years. One day, when he asks for an extra spoonful of beef sauce, Zhao unexpectedly charges him two yuan and publicly tells him that if he thinks it's too expensive, he should never come back. Chen Chuan doesn't argue. Instead, following company procedures, he brings in a second beef noodle shop and lets employees choose freely. Zhao assumes customers are simply looking for something new. She repeatedly lowers prices, reduces portions, changes ingredients, and even reports her competitor, yet refuses to admit her own mistakes. As the regular customers gradually leave, she finally realizes that what destroyed her business was never those two yuan, but her belief that customers should be grateful to her for the privilege of spending their money.

Un giorno, quando chiede un cucchiaio in più di salsa di manzo, Zhao Guifang gli fa pagare improvvisamente due yuan aggiuntivi e lo umilia davanti a tutti, dicendogli di non tornare più se il prezzo gli sembra troppo alto. Chen Chuan non litiga. Segue invece le procedure aziendali e aggiunge un secondo negozio di noodles al manzo tra i fornitori, lasciando che i dipendenti scelgano liberamente. Zhao Guifang pensa che i clienti vogliano semplicemente provare qualcosa di nuovo. Continua ad abbassare i prezzi, ridurre le porzioni, cambiare gli ingredienti e persino denunciare la concorrenza, ma si rifiuta di ammettere i propri errori.
